Gleich geladen und wie erwartet super! Sehr coole Versionen der alten Beats, besonders die Drums sind sehr fett! Elzhi eh un****bar am Mic! Bestätigt wieder einmal seinen Status in meiner persönlichen Top-5 aller MC's da draußen!

Ich finde, dass elZih Fashawn sogar übertrifft!

Hörs grad, richtig geil. Und wie geil die Beats nachgespielt wurden. Is wirklich sehr kool gemacht, Elzhi's Versionen von den Tracks sind halt alleine auch durch die "neuen" Beats (aber auch sonst) eigenständiger. Da war das Fashawn-Ding irgendwie eher so ne Art Cover des Originals. Was ich geil fand, da er halt flowtechnisch und reimschematisch bei allen Tracks wirklich nah an den Nas-Lyrics war. Egal, beides dope. Und Elzhi ist sowieso. Schon derbe was der immer ma wieder for free raushaut!

Edit: Elzhi hört sich aber stimmlich teilweise sehr ähnlich an wie Nas. Is mir noch nie aufgefallen.

Hat hier jemand eine Ahnung, wie hoch die Auflage der Vinyl mit den Instrumentals ist und ob die Vinyls durchnummeriert sind? Auf CD gibt es die Instrumentals übrigens auch inzwischen. Nur zur Info für die, die keine Vinyls hören können oder mögen.

Mixtape läuft bei mir in aller Regelmäßigkeit. Von daher kann der Thread auch einen Push vertragen.

Will Sessions – Memory Lane (Instrumental)

Earlier this year, Detroit emcee Elzhi boldly released Elmatic — his re-interpretation of the Nas’ classic Illmatic. Eyebrows everywhere were raised as not only did Elzhi impress with his lyricism, but the sound of the album’s classic production was re-created with stunning precision by the Detroit band Will Sessions. By using the original sample sources as a foundation, producer and bandleader Sam Beaubien recorded each player’s part individually and reconstructed each entire song from scratch, ensuring that it maintained the same mood and vibe of Illmatic. Demand for the instrumental versions from Elmatic led to a deal with Fat Beats Records for the recordings, and The Elmatic Instrumentals will be released worldwide on September 27 on CD, 180g Vinyl, and digital formats.
