Nach Gastauftritten bei T-Pain's "I'm N Luv (Wit a Stripper)," Juvenile's "Way I Be Leanin'" and Pimp C's "Pourin' Up" kehrt Houston Rapper Mike Jones im kommenden April / Mai mit seinem neuen Soloalbum "The American Dream" zurück. Der Nachfolger seines Platindebüts "Who Is Mike Jones?" (2005) wird über Swishahouse/Asylum/Warner Bros. Records erscheinen.

Als Gäste-Features wurden unter anderem Trey Songz, T.I., Bobby Brown, Pimp C, Latoya Luckett und Lil' Mo angekündigt. Jones über sein neues Album:
"People think that 'Who? Mike Jones' was a fluke, it was just a brand thing. With this [album], it's me really experiencing my sound. I got a lot more R&B type songs on here, but I still got street shit on there. On the R&B songs, I'm not rapping the same. I'm coming with a harmonizing flow. It's still a lot of stuff on here from the first album too. I'm back to writing about bling and candy paint and the things I know, it's just that this album is what the first one should have been."

Erste offizielle Single ist der von Myke Diesel produzierte Track "Mr. Jones". Mit dem Release des Albums wird auch eine ebenfalls "The American Dream" betitelte DVD Dokumentation von Mike Jones erscheinen.

Freue mich aufs Album, finde Mike Jones Knaller, einer der besten aus Houston für mich.
 
bin auch schon sehr gespannt auf das album... das andere war echt killa
komisch das paul wall oder lil keke nciht drauf sind...sind ja auch bei swishahouse.aber trackliste gibt es ja noch nciht...hoffen wir mal weiter
 
scheiss auf den american dream... ich will endlich "the nacirema dream" von papoose !
 
auch wenn mike oft als schlecht bezeichnet wurd, find ich dasser schon einiges drauf hat. hoffentlich hat er mal gelernt nich nur über 44s zu rappen...
 
also mein bester Kumpel wird begeistert sein - ich fand sein erstes Album auch ganz gut, und hoffe dass er nicht zu sehr in die R&B / Pop Schiene geht wie er sagt - dieser Sound hängt mir nämlich zur Zeit zum Hals raus!
 
mike jones ist schlecht. einfach schlecht

und wieso heißt jedes 3. kommende album "american dream"?
 
Who? Mike Jones! ... Who? Mike Jones! ... der Handynummer Mann ist Back. "Who Is Mike Jones?" war definitiv Crack, und das hat richtig geknallt... aber auch die, oder gerade die Mixtapes davor waren top

Ich glaube da gabs Probleme, und ich glaub er is auch nur noch Vertraglich an Swisha House gebunden.
