Seit gestern ist nun 50 Cent's neues Album "Curtis" auch in den Staaten erhältlich. Laut Statistiken wird es ein Kopf an Kopf Rennen zwischen Kanye West's "Graduation" und 50 Cent's "Curtis".
Während "Graduation" bei Amazon.com auf platz 6 liegt ("Curtis" auf Platz 9), steht 50's Album bei CDUniverse.com unangefochten auf Platz 1 vor Kanye's "Graduation".
Laut Billboard.com liegen die Verkäufe am Ende der Woche bei 575.000-700.000 für Kanye und bei 500.000-600.000 bei 50 Cent. Laut Soundscan sind die Verkäufe am ersten Tag aber fast gleich. Man wird also sehen, wer am Ende die nase vorn haben wird. Hier könnt ihr es euch auch online vorbestellen.

Eminem vor dem Aus?
"Mein Album liegt erst mal auf Eis. Ich bin mir im Moment nicht sicher, ob ich überhaupt jemals wieder ein Album veröffentlichen werde."
Das waren die Worte Eminems, nachdem ihm Angie Martinez zu seinem Album befragte. Zur Vorgeschichte: Am Mittwoch war 50 Cent bei Angie im Hot97 Studio, als das Telefon klingelte und Herr Mathers die beiden begrüßte. Der Grund war, 50 öffentlich zu seinem neuen Album zu gratulieren, schließlich ist er auch eine Art großer Bruder für ihn. Es darf nunmal nicht sein, dass Kanye West beim BET Showdown Unterstützung von seinem "Big Brother" Jay-Z erhält und Curtis ganz allein gelassen wird. Martinez wäre zudem keine gute Journalistin, wenn sie die Gunst der Stunde nicht genutzt hätte, um Eminem schnell ein Kurzinterview abzugewinnen. Die ersten Sätze kennt ihr bereits. Die restlichen hier:
"Ich arbeite immer und bin fast jeden Tag im Studio. Die Energie des Labels (Shady Records) fühlt sich gerade gut an. Ich will im Moment nicht zurück zu all dem negativen Kram. Ich ging durch einige persönliche Phasen und erhole mich gerade davon. [...] Es fühlt sich gut an."
Überbewerten sollte man das Ganze nicht. Woher die Worte aber nun rühren, darf spekuliert werden. Vielleicht sind es die hohen Erwartungen an sich selbst, vielleicht sind es aber auch Probleme mit dem Business, oder es handelt sich lediglich um Publicity.

"We go until it happens," Dr. Dre says about all the time he spends in the recording studio searching for hits, once as long as 79 hours in a single stretch. "When the ideas are coming," says the man who is one of the half-dozen most influential producers of the modern pop era, "I don't stop until the ideas stop because that train doesn't come along all the time."
"I was really hoping to have it out this year, but it's going to have to be pushed back a while because of some other things I've got to work on," he continues, sitting in the lounge of the recording studio where he spends all those hours behind the buttons. He's still two or three tracks away from calling it finished, he says.
Some hip-hop fans, however, must be wondering if this particular train isn't off the track. Dre (real name: Andre Young) has been working on his third solo album, "Detox," for nearly eight years, a time frame that invites uncomfortable comparison with such earlier pop music train wrecks as Phil Spector, Brian Wilson and Axl Rose.
All three were fabulously successful artists who found it so hard to live up to their own expectations that they each ran into creative paralysis.
As a producer and head of Aftermath Entertainment, Dre has also contributed to albums by Eminem, 50 Cent, the Game and others. Plus, he has "mixed" tracks -- fine-tuning the musical dynamics -- for more than a dozen other artists, including Gwen Stefani, Eve and Mary J. Blige.
Dre will now devote two months to working on Eminem's new album. "We'll be trying to get his thing done and work on a few things on my own project," Dre says.

No Detox Until '08 (Duh) But An Eminem Album Coming!
Dr. Dre and his Detox album has been one of those things that many have accepted to never come to fruition. But in a recent interview with the LA Times, Dre came out and actually spoke on the album.
With Detox in the making for the last 8 years, Dre says that there have been other projects in the way - more recently the upcoming Eminem album.
"We'll be trying to get his thing done and work on a few things on my own project," Dre said in regards to wrapping up Eminem's as-yet-titled album. "I was really hoping to have (Detox) out this year, but it's going to have to be pushed back a while because of some other things I've got to work on," he continued as he said that he's only two or three songs away from finishing it.
He also reaffirmed that Detox would definitely be his last album and he'll be moving on to his next passion - film.
"I think it's time to move on," Dre stated as he notes his multiyear production pact with New Line Cinema.
So will Detox ever come out? We will just have to wait and see.
