The series will juggle 22 stars and multiple story lines, from deep within the dwarf mines of the Misty Mountains to the high politics of the elven kingdom of Lindon and the humans’ powerful, Atlantis-like island, Númenor. All this will center, eventually, around the incident that gives the trilogy its name. “The forging of the rings,” says McKay. “Rings for the elves, rings for dwarves, rings for men, and then the one ring Sauron used to deceive them all. It’s the story of the creation of all those powers, where they came from, and what they did to each of those races.”

Hallo zusammen!

In den letzten Wochen hat Amazon begonnen, fleissig Promo für die neue Herr der Ringe-Serie zu machen. Gestern war nun der Höhepunkt dieser ersten Phase mit einem 1-minütigen Trailer, der während des Superbowls gezeigt wurde. Denke es ist langsam so weit, dass die Serie ihren eigenen Thread bekommt. Mittlerweile gibt es doch schon viel Material zu sehen und man kann sich anhand der Texte und Bilder eine Vorstellung davon machen, wovon die Serie handeln wird und wie sie aussehen wird.

Ich trage hier mal alles der Reihe nach zusammen. Es ist auf jeden Fall ein ambitiöses Projekt und wird die teuerste, aufwendigste TV-Serie aller Zeiten sein - soviel steht jetzt schon fest.

Im Artikel werden sehr viele Punkte angesprochen. Unter anderem:
  • es wirkt, als wäre Galadriel unsere Hauptprotagonistin. Sie wird unter anderem als "thousands of years younger, as angry and brash as she is clever, and certain that evil is looming closer than anyone realizes" beschrieben
  • Die Serie wird auch für 12-jährige Kinder geeignet sein (keine GoT-like Gewalt- oder Sexorgien)
  • Die Timeline wird für die Serie komprimiert
  • Es werden ganze Handlungsstränge und Charaktere nur für die Serie neu erfunden

We will finally see the full glory of Khazad-dûm—the cavernous necropolis carved into the Misty Mountains, where, in Jackson’s The Fellowship of the Ring, Gandalf famously bellowed at the Balrog, “You shall not pass!” The show will explore that kingdom when it was still full of light, food, and music. It will also bring the elven smith Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards) to life, as his skill with metals and magic lead to the forging of the rings. was meint ihr?

ich bin immer noch gehyped

auch wenn die ice-climbing-szene im trailer aussieht wie ein computerspiel
 
Ich merke, dass mich der Gedanke, dass es scheiße werden könnte, komplett kalt lässt. Ich freu mich, wenns ne geile Serie ist, weil man gute Serien immer brauchen kann, aber für mich ist da im Kopf gar keine Verbindung zu Herr der Ringe da, die dafür sorgen würde, dass ich gehypet bin oder dann angefressen oder enttäuscht bin, wenns nix wird
 
möchte auch gleich die erste theorie teilen, die mich heute beschäftigt hat:

"Meteor Man" oder "Mystery Man"

es wird vermutet, dass in den ersten episoden eine mysteriöse person per meteor auf mittelerde "landet". gil-galad sieht den meteor (siehe trailer), die "hobbits" (harfoots) "retten" den meteor-man, galadriel ist auch iwie involviert. er wird am anfang sein gedächtnis verloren haben und die hobbits helfen ihm, aber dann entpuppt er sich als bösewicht. eine der main-storylines der ersten episoden.

hier ist angeblich zu sehen, wie die person aus dem meteor "steigt" (die kleine person ist wohl der weibliche hobbit vom anfang des trailers)

das scheint alles komplett für die serie erfunden zu sein, oder? gibts im buch einen meteor?

erinnert an GoT... der rote meteor

kann mir gut vorstellen, dass sie die ankunft eines göttlichen wesens so verpacken/darstellen
sowas wie die ankunft von gandalf (der kommt natürlich erst später, aber als beispiel)

Naja, September ist mir noch etwas fern für Hype. Den nimmt gerade The Batman ein. Aber hab safe bock!
 
Nach dem Trailer bin ich irgendwo zwischen todesbetrübt und himmelhoch jauchzend.

Ich bin eigentlich richtig heiß drauf, werde aber nach dem Trailer doch in meiner Euphorie gebremst. Sieht mir teilweise zu aalglatt aus wie schon beim Hobbit.
 
Das Geile an der Serie wird halt auch wieder der Diskussionsstoff sein. Ist doch geil wenn es in Richtung Game of Thrones geht und halt auch jeder die Serie schaut. Freu mich im September auf zahlreiche Theorien, Hate oder Lobeshymnen :thumbsup:

Ich sag, mal gucken.
Bin auch nicht hyped, aber den Hate find ich schon übertrieben.

Und wie Game of Thrones wirds sicherlich nicht sein. Dafür ist die Zielgruppe doch recht jung angesetzt. Hab da was von 11- bis 13-jährige gelesen. Aber find ich auch nicht sooo schlimm. Muss nicht alles GoT sein.
 
In Richtung Game of Thrones war auch null auf den Inhalt bezogen, sondern eher auf den Hype den die Serie bekommen könnte, sprich GoT Level.
 
das aussehen der zwerge macht mich wütend, hat mich schon in den hobbit-filmen genervt
sehen aus als kämen sie gerade ausm beauty-salon

Over his life, J.R.R. Tolkien wrote and revised many stories about the First Age. These were collected and edited after his death by his son Christopher, and published in the books The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, Beren and Luthien, The Children of Húrin, The Fall of Gondolin, and others. It’s a rich and full mythology, and a television studio could take years to tell those stories.

Amazon has the rights to none of them. The Tolkien estate didn’t sell those. (And Amazon doesn’t have the Hobbit/Lord of the Rings-era stories either.)

What the Tolkien estate sold was the rights to the Second Age, but reportedly not the parts of those stories told in the books primarily about the First Age (the Silmarillion, etc.) At the same time, Amazon cannot contradict those stories either. Amazon’s series will have to be consistent with the Tolkien canon, while at the same time drawing on the vaguest, least detailed portion of it: genealogies, a few outlines of stories, and not much more.
