1999 erschienen 2 Nas Platten - I am und Nastradamus.
Geplant war wohl ein Doppelalbum aber aufgrund von Bootlegs wurde I am vorgezogen.

Nastradamus gilt als sein schwächstes Album und führte endgültig zur 'er wird Illmatic nie wieder erreichen'-Debatte.
Paar solide Tracks sind aber schon drauf.

105 The Firm - Executive Decision (1997)

Nas macht ein Album mit Dre? Da haben sicher einige die Platte des Jahres erwartet.
Das Ergebnis war aber enttäuschend. Und Dre steuerte auch nur ein paar Beats bei, 'Executive Decision' ist auch nicht von ihm.

Die Firm Kombo - Nas, Foxy Brown, AZ, Nature - basiert auf einem Posse Song von "It was written", wobei eigentlich Cormega dazu gehörte, dann aber nach Differenzen durch Nature ersetzt wurde.

Wenn man bedenkt, wie Dre 2 jahre später neue Maßstäbe mit 2001 setzte, ist es umso seltsamer, wieso er hier so uninspirierte Standardware abgeliefert hat.

Spoiler: aufgrund der 5er Grenze ist der übertrieben epische Disstrack "Ether" nicht in der Liste gelandet, obwohl Nas darauf mit unfassbaren Punchlines wie Gay-Z, Rocafella died of AIDS, Cockafella Records oder they called u ugly beweist, dass er zurecht als lyrisch versiertester Rapper gilt und die Kajere von Jay-Z für immer beendete.

Das Vocal am Ende vom Loop scheint woanders her zu sein oder ich hab noch nicht genau genug hingehört...

Hatte die Compilation auf jeden Fall auch gehört damals, aber den muss ich irgendwie verpasst haben.
(Gerade nochmal reingehört: bei so viel langweiligem Kram bis der Track endlich kommt war ich dann wohl schon nicht mehr aufnahmefähig.)

und ausgerechnet der unbekannteste rapper von allen kriegt den besten beat für seinen solo track
